Tony Accardo (alias Coach Simons) was a registered sex offender who previously did ten years for statutory rape.

Background[]

Accardo did ten years in prison for the statutory rape in Baltimore. Upon release, he learned his lesson after he was forced to register as a sex offender but was able to evade authorities by moving to New York. Wanting a fresh start, he took up a new name and acted as wrestling Coach Simons while hiding his past. To the students, he was a good teacher who treated them to pizza parties at his home after a victory, though was marked as odd from the massages he would give them.

Hardwired[]

Accardo was found out after Cory Santiago, a boy who was discovered to have been molested by his stepfather revealed some of the training sessions and massages that Accardo taught the team. He was arrested by Detectives Elliot Stabler and Olivia Benson in front of the staff and students. At the precinct, they revealed their knowledge of his background and interrogated him on raping Santigo. He tried to deny it and demanded a lawyer. In response, Stabler strangled Accardo until Benson stopped him. Terrified, Accardo declared his innocence by stating he had not raped a child since his release and upon hearing Santiago had an STD, he revealed he was clean from his visit to the clinic.

The detectives decided to test him anyway and Stabler threatened Accardo if it was revealed he had the STD. Accardo was cleared of Cory's rape after his true assailant was revealed. Accardo was then extradited and likely imprisoned for violating regulations of not registering as a sex offender.
