Anthony Howard Goldwyn is an actor who portrays District Attorney Nicholas Baxter on Law & Order, starting from the middle of Season 23. Prior to this, Goldwyn also directed the Law & Order Season 16 episode "Thinking Makes It So" and portrayed Detective Robert Goren's brother Frank in Law & Order: Criminal Intent.

He is also known for his role as Carl, friend of Patrick Swayze's character Sam Wheat in Ghost (with Whoopi Goldberg). He is also well known for his turn on the comedy series, Designing Women in which he played a young interior designer named Kendall Dobbs who was HIV positive, and asked the women of Sugarbakers to design his funeral. In the HBO miniseries From the Earth to the Moon, Goldwyn played astronaut Neil Armstrong, commander of Apollo 11.

Goldwyn voiced the title character Tarzan in the Disney animated film Tarzan (1999; with Wayne Knight). He starred in the ABC legal/political drama Scandal as Fitzgerald "Fitz" Thomas Grant III, a fictional president of the United States, from 2012 to 2018 with Kerry Washington, Bellamy Young, Joshua Malina, Guillermo Diaz, Kate Burton, Scott Foley, George Newbern, Dylan Minnette, Norm Lewis, and Joe Morton. He appears as Fitzgerald "Fitz" Thomas Grant III in Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder with the crossover episode: "Allow Me to Reintroduce Myself", which he directed the episode with Kerry and Viola Davis as Annalise Keating.

His daughter Tess played his character's daughter Carrie Baxter in the Law & Order episode "In Harm's Way".
