Tracey Kibre is a Bureau Chief Assistant District Attorney of the Homicide Bureau who works for the Manhattan District Attorney's Office.
Personality[]
Kibre has a black-and-white view of the law when it comes to those she prosecutes and does take a few controversial turns in her cases. She is tough, tenacious, focused, and professional. Kibre has a strong working relationship with her staff. As chief of the Homicide Bureau, she is a senior prosecutor, subordinate only to the District Attorney and the Executive ADA. In one episode, she indicated that she is not religious, unlike her partner Kelly Gaffney. Kibre always sits first chair as the lead prosecuting attorney in the cases she tries, most of which are homicides, though she once tried a high-profile rape case for the Special Victims Unit after their ADA, Casey Novak, was viciously attacked. (SVU: "Night"; TBJ: "Day")
Trivia[]
- Kibre is the very first female main character in the franchise to be billed with the "starring" tag within the opening credits, as well as the first female protagonist in the franchise (not counting deuteragonists such as Alexandra Eames or Olivia Benson prior to season 13 of SVU).
- Kibre and Arthur Branch are the only Trial by Jury main characters to appear in an episode outside the show, as Kibre appeared in the SVU episode "Night" and Branch was still a main character in the original Law & Order while also being a main character in Trial by Jury simultaneously.
- Kibre was the first female attorney in the franchise to have her case overruled without contempt, a mistrial, or insufficient credentials. This happened during the Trial by Jury episode "Baby Boom", in which the sitting judge of the case, Judge Samir Patel, dismissed the case in accordance with his own apparent bias.
