Troy Booker is a man who escaped from prison after he was wrongfully accused of murder.

History[]

Nolan Price gets approached by Troy's mother who claims that he needs to let Troy out of prison for the murder but Price continuously tells her to call his attorney. Troy's mother becomes angry and continuously suggests that he is innocent. Shaw then testifies at Troy's trial and claims that Troy confessed to the murder. However, Jalen Shaw and Price hear alarms go off and find out that Troy had shot a guard and escaped from custody. Shaw then gathers the team to look for Troy and find out that a female corrections officer got disciplined for getting too close to Troy.

Frank Cosgrove and Shaw then break into the house of the corrections officer who enters the house shortly after. She tells Cosgrove and Shaw that she hopes they never find him since he was never meant to be in prison. She also claims that Troy told her about the escape and that he asked her for money which she was going to give him. Cosgrove and Shaw then raid Troy's brother's apartment where they find out that Troy was there. Shaw ends up arresting Troy's brother for obstruction of justice.

Cosgrove and Shaw end up finding Troy who attempts to run from police custody. Troy then holds a woman hostage and goes into a building. Shaw tries to negotiate with Troy but Troy refuses to go back to prison. Cosgrove then sneaks up behind Troy and forces him to drop the gun. Troy drops the gun and gets arrested by Cosgrove. At the courtroom, Price offers to combine Troy's murder case with his escape case but Troy's attorney offers to dismiss the murder charge as he was wrongfully convicted.

Price then receives a hard drive by Troy's attorney which proves that he is innocent of the murder. Shaw watches the security footage from the hard drive which shows Troy attempting to save the man's life. Price then drops the murder charge against Troy. Shaw and Price then go to the hospital and find out that the cop Troy shot died in the hospital from a septic shock. At the courtroom, Price blames himself for the corrections officer's death and offers to make a deal with Troy which Jack McCoy refuses.

Later, Troy ends up taking the stand where he admits that he was never in trouble before he was arrested for murder. Troy claims that he smoked a joint when he was interrogated by Shaw for the original murder which got him to confess. Troy also claims that attacking the corrections officer, Randall Foster, was self-defense as he felt he was being attacked by Foster like he was attacked by an inmate before his escape.

In the end, Price and Samantha Maroun try to negotiate with Troy and makes a deal with him which includes prison time. Troy declines their deal and refuses to go back to prison which makes things harder for Price and Maroun. Shaw wants Price to offer Troy a better deal but Price claims that he can't do that. In the end, Troy gets found guilty of Foster's murder and imprisoned which leaves Troy, Price and Shaw distraught. (L&O: "The System")
