United States Attorneys (also known as federal prosecutors) represent the United States federal government in United States District Court and United States Court of Appeals.

Each U.S. Attorney is the chief federal law enforcement officer within his or her particular jurisdiction.

U.S. Attorneys and their offices are part of the Department of Justice.

Rudolph Giuliani was a US Attorney prior to his time as Mayor of New York City (L&O: Endurance).

Abbie Carmichael left the Manhattan District Attorney's Office in 2001 to take a job in the United States Attorney's office in the Southern District as a federal prosecutor. (L&O: "Deep Vote")
