Quotes[]
Background information and notes[]
- Contrary to what's implied in the episode, the defense of "extreme emotional disturbance" does not absolve the defendant of responsibility for the crime. It merely reduces the charge from murder to manslaughter in the first degree (punishable in the state of New York by 8 1/3 to 25 years in prison, or less at the judge's discretion).
