At the time of this posting, Chicago Fire, Law and Order and Law and Order: Special Victims Unit have been renewed by NBC. Many people have started worrying about whether or not Law and Order: Organized Crime is going to be renewed as well.
With Elliot Stabler as the main character, if OC is concluding with S4, that could mean he is departing from the Law and Order franchise for good. What will happen between him and his beloved partner, Olivia Benson, if OC is not renewed?
Note: The following theories are mere speculations, not gathered from any reliable source and certainly not confirmed to be canon in any way. Subject to change. OC could still be renewed, but in the meantime, here are my guesses how "Bensler" could happen if OC is over:
- SVU, years down the road, would end with Benson and Stabler reuniting again, swiftly professing their love, and getting married.
- OC S4 ends with a major Bensler moment or finally a kiss.
- Stabler returns to SVU.
- Stabler comes back to SVU for one episode, but dates Benson off-screen following that.
- Bensler professes their love on OC and pursue a relationship following.

Elliot confessed that he loved Olivia during his kids' intervention, and he told that woman he almost hooked up with on OC that he loved another woman (Olivia) (I don't know the woman's name cuz I never saw the episode), not to mention he tried to kiss her before. Olivia also discussed with Rollins the idea of herself and Stabler now that Kathy has passed (R.I.P) - so there are definite romantic feelings, I believe, on and off at both ends, they just can't ever find the right time to admit it and start a relationship with their dangerous jobs.
There's still a good chance that Bensler will just be in the history book as "will-they-or-won't they" and never actually date. I love Bensler and think they deserve each other, having such great chemistry all these years, but if they stayed just friends it wouldn't make me depressed or anything.
I'm not one of those fanatical, die-for-it, Kathy-Stabler-hating shippers (I actually really liked her) who will throw a fit when their ship doesn't sail.
- I really liked Olivia Benson and Brian Cassidy and wish they would've ended up together.
- Barson is also a good friendship, suspected-something-more who I can see being such a cool power couple, but I'd also like them to remain friends.
- I can honestly see Peter Stone and Benson dating + marrying. They really just clicked to me and would look super good as a couple.
So, in conclusion, Bensler could happen soon, or it could go down never sailing. I would be fine either way.
