The Vidocq Society is an exclusive, members-only coalition of cold case investigators. It encompasses law enforcement and criminology experts of high esteem and talent, employed, retired, and even unofficial.

The society was formed in the '90s by William Fleischer, Richard Walter, and Frank Bender. The society gets its name from Eugène François Vidocq, a French retired criminal credited for being the earliest criminologist, cold case investigator, and detective agency founder. Despite skepticism it's met with, the organization is credited for numerous investigative successes and has set criteria for acceptable cases and approval.
