Law and Order

Virgil Gilbert is a landlord who murdered Eli Barone.

History[]

After Virgil murdered Eli and moved his body, Virgil was questioned by Cosgrove and Shaw where he seemed shocked to hear that Eli was dead. Later, after new evidence points out that Virgil was responsible for Eli's death, Virgil was questioned by Cosgrove and Shaw in his apartment. Virgil told his daughter to sleep at her aunt's house before he confessed to the murder. During interrogation, Virgil claimed that he mistook Eli for a burglar and shot him to protect himself. When he realized that the burglar was Eli, he felt guilty but couldn't call the cops because he didn't have a permit for the gun.

After detectives find out that Eli's death was caused by a social media influencer who orders people to do stupid things in exchange for more followers, Max Brewer and Jason Wheeler were both arrested. During Wheeler's trial, Virgil testified that he shot Eli while Eli was ordered by Max Brewer and Jason Wheeler to break down Virgil's door. He also testified that he didn't tell the police at first because he didn't have a permit for the gun, and that now he has been charged with that crime. Wheeler's attorney tried to make it seem that Virgil had a sexual consensual relationship with Eli and made it seem that he murdered Eli to stop him from breaking the news that Virgil was sexually abusing him.

It was unknown whether Virgil made a deal and avoided prison time in exchange for his testimony or if he was sentenced to prison time for possession of an unregistered firearm. (L&O: "Almost Famous")
