To pay off her tuition and to support her father, Zoey did porn cam sessions for a living under the name Kendra Dream. One of her viewers, Gabe Miller, became obsessed with her after some private sessions. He had even recommended an assistant living facility for her father. One night, while doing a session, Gabe broke into her house and violently raped her. He was arrested and taken to trial but harassed Zoey during the trial, even violating the restraining order by visiting her father.
At trial, Gabe used recorded cam sessions of her to make the jury doubt her and caused her to cry. This left Zoey frightened and anxious, unsure if she could testify against Gabe; however, Carisi brought in more of her viewers and they all revealed that Zoey treated them all the same way with none of them trying to find her residence. This triggered Gabe and he subpoenaed Zoey to come in court again.
During her testimony, Gabe tried to get Zoey to say a comment from her session or use stage name, but Zoey refused, saying her name was Zoey and that he raped her. This caused Gabe to fly into a psychotic rage at supposedly being led on and he tried to attack Zoey, but he was dragged out by court security guards while his screams for her echoed in the courtroom, which disturbed and shocked Zoey, Carisi, Tamin, Judge Catano and the jury. After Gabe was imprisoned, Carisi tried to call Zoey to tell her and see if she was okay, but her voicemail said she had gone off the grid in an attempt to get away from Gabe.
