Summary[]
A cryptic message sends the Special Victims Unit on a new track to find kidnapping victim Maddie Flynn. Benson tries to help a federal agent when the case hits too close to home. Captain Curry tries to make amends with Tutuola.
Plot[]
Benson contacts Maddie's parents, telling them she might have an update by showing the picture of her new appearance from the train. Eileen quickly becomes happy, while excitedly recognizing her daughter but Peter is still unsure but once he is given the note he is able to confirm her handwriting, despite it being sloppy.
She and Sykes interrogate Bowford by showing pictures of the supposed boy on the train. Bowford questions the relevance, since it was just a drug addict kid before Benson takes out a picture of Maddie Flynn. She reveals that Maddie was actually the boy on the train, as Bowford recognizes her as the missing girl from New York and notes on the resemblance. Benson notes on how he is well-informed but calls him out on not helping her when she asked him. They tell Bowford they don't care about the drugs and if he gives them info, he is free to go. Bowford explains he was shipping the drugs to a client but he doesn't know his name and when he describes the drugs it gets Benson an idea.
SVU decide to approach Tanya for a lead in identifying the perp. Tanya is succeeding in her new job before Benson inquired on her kidnapper and she explains he was named George. She described some of his activities, before wishing them luck in saving Maddie. Much later, SVU located and detained the kidnapper George Brouchard, a grifter with a long rap sheet. In interrogation, George tries to deny the allegations and even blame SVU for not properly searching for the girls. However, Benson silences him by revealing she actually saw him in the van with Maddie and tells him another surprise they have evidence in the form of Tanya, who survived his attempted drowning of her. With the odds stack against him, he confessed to kidnapping Maddie and Tanya before giving them the name of the man who he sold her to: Leonard Fleming.
Seeing the cops, Flemming proceeds to flee while Velasco pursues him while Benson continues to search until finding Maddie on a mattress. A crying Maddie asks Benson for help, Benson comforts her while Flemming is arrested by Velasco.
Later on, Maddie is treated at the hospital, where she reunites with her overjoyed parents while SVU leave them to reconnect for the time being. Soon the Flynn parents thank Benson for her endeavors before asking if Maddie looked like she was harmed.
